Situational Analysis

​​The situational analysis will include three specific areas:​

- SWOT, a four-cell chart containing internal and external factors of the chosen healthcare organization 

- Environmental forces, research into university health centers and health services or programming for university students.

- Competitive analysis, an analysis of  weaknesses and strengths of the competitors to the selected organization

Environmental Forces: 

Technological Factors:

Technological factors could impact my marketing plan in a positive way because they send so many messages and information out through social media and emails and that would be a good way for it to grasp students' attention. Encouraging students to share their progress, and participate in challenges, and virtual workshops. Many students rely on apps on their phones to track their health and set goals. This would be a positive because everyone carries their phone with them so it's not like they need anything else to track their progress.

Social factors could impact my plan in a positive way as well. IUI has many clubs and sports programs in which students can participate. That means if students hear about the wellness program they could easily tell their friends about it and spread the word. Health, wellness, and fitness are becoming more popular, especially around the age of college students. This could impact my program because students may be more likely to engage with it being more popular.

Competitive Analysis

A competitor to my organization would be Nutrition and Wellness Solutions based out of Carmel Indiana. Although it is a distance from IUI students and other people interested are able to do most of it online. They offer healthy living, sports nutrition, active aging, weight management, team sessions, disordered eating, special diets, wellness presentations, and more. They are aiming for all age groups and have multiple services. Their strengths are that people can meet with their coach online when they need it, their target audience is all ages, and they offer many different types of services, including personal coaches that are specialized to help you reach your goals. Their weaknesses are appointment scheduling with coaches can be limited, it costs money, they do not offer specialized workouts, and if you do go in person you will have to travel a bit of a distance depending on where you are coming from. I can better market my company by making certain workshops available online so people can rewatch them or join from being at home.
